Johnathan Brownlee is an award-winning Canadian/American, producer, director, writer
and actor with a diverse, international body of work spanning over 25+ years. His work has
been in theaters and on screens in 127 countries, 14 languages and appeared on every
major network and many specialty channels in the United States and Canada including;
NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, HBO, Showtime, Bravo, Global TV, HGTV and PBS.
Johnathan has shot in over 20 countries and worked with Academy Award, Golden Globe
and Emmy Award winning talent including; Helen Hunt, Angelina Jolie, Martin Sheen, Jerry
Seinfeld, Luciano Pavarotti, Michael Douglas, Annette Bening, Susan Sarandon, Barry
Bostwick, Rashida Jones, Dan Aykroyd, Richard Gere, Aaron Paul and William H. Macy
His feature films include; “Decoding Annie Parker,” “Three Days in August,” “Puppet
Master,” and “The Incident at Sparrow Creek Lumber.” Johnathan has recently signed to
direct both, “Mojo & the Trick Bag,” and “Jefferson’s Eyes,” which he is also writing.
Johnathan has also created digital content and brand films for Home Depot, Carnival
Corporation, Ford, American Airlines, Wal-Mart, Omni Hotels & Resorts, TheDailyMeal.com
and charitable organizations including; The Salvation Army, Boy Scouts, Amnesty
International, World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, Toronto Humane Society and KIPP
Schools, to name a few.
Recently, Johnathan was appointed CEO & President of the Dallas Film Society and
Executive Director of The Dallas International Film Festival.
Johnathan enjoys teaching and consulting at Harvard, MIT, Boston College, Vancouver Film
School, LA Film School, Brandeis University, Wellesley College, NYU, University of Toronto
and Dallas’ prestigious Booker T. Washington High School for the Arts. He recently created
the Veterans Institute For Film & Media (VIFM) a training program for former military.
In addition to his years in the entertainment industry, he has developed commercial and
residential real estate, studios, restaurants, a cinema and fitness centers for underserved
communities. BGM named him one of The Top 8 Creative Canadian Entrepreneurs. He
served on the First Credit Union’s Community Board as Vice Chair and as the LA
representative for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
Fun Facts: Johnathan is in a famous episode of Seinfeld and has performed in all 36 of
Shakespeare’s first folio plays.
