Kate Knight

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas
Director of GroundFloor

Kate Knight is the Director of the GroundFloor Program at United Way of Metropolitan Dallas – a social innovation accelerator program that finds innovative ideas poised to better our community in the areas of education, income and health and supplies them with the critical resources – mentorship, funding and community connections – to help bring those ideas to life.

Kate spent the first half of her career making movies and marketing airlines, while looking for ways to better our world through empowering entrepreneurs in her spare time. She has worked with diverse groups – from rural Tanzanian women hoping to turn their sewing abilities into income to Houston in-mates seeking business plan feedback through the Prison Entrepreneurship Program.

In her role at United Way, Kate has pioneered social innovation work for the organization. She has taken the idea for an accelerator program for social entrepreneurs and built GroundFloor into a nationally recognized program for identifying, nurturing and implementing groundbreaking community impact.

Kate holds an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a Curtis W. Meadows, Jr. Social Enterprise Fellow. She lives with her husband and two young children in Dallas.
